ISR Lessons are held in sessions and scheduled 5 days per week, Monday through Friday, for a maximum of 10 minutes each day. Daily lesson consistency is proven to be the most effective in the retention of the skills that your little one will learn. Plan to spend approximately 3-6 weeks attending lessons.
With a focus on safe, customized, one-on-one lessons, ISR’s survival swimming lessons emphasize health, ongoing program evaluations and parent education to deliver the most effective and safest results in the industry.
Infants 6 months old (and have appropriate core strength) to about 18 months
For students who are not yet walking, or early walkers who need more time to acquire strength and balance. Students will learn breath control and to roll back and float should they come into contact with the water unsupervised. Floating is a life skill! Toward the end of lessons, students will practice their new skills in both summer clothes and winter clothes.
Children 2(ish) years old – 6 years old
Students must be walking well independently for at least 4 months. Swimming requires strength and balance. Students learning to swim float swim will swim for a few seconds, roll back into a float to rest and breath, then flip back over and continue to swim. This Swim Float Swim sequence is repeated until the student reaches safety. Toward the end of lessons, students will practice their new skills in both summer clothes and winter clothes.
It is recommended that students who have completed an ISR program refresh their skills when they have been out of the water for 6-8 months. Bodies grow and change and it is a good idea to practice skills periodically with a certified instructor.
Once a student has learned to float or to swim float swim, maintenance lessons are a good way to keep the skills fresh and polished and maximize skill retention.
